What Is The Most Customisable Sleep System Possible

The sleep configuration we come home to matters - and it isn’t just the most comfortable mattress that counts. In order to achieve the most comfortable, supportive, and tailored sleep system for you, purchasing a mattress, bed base, and pillows that compliment each other is crucial. The combination of these 3 elements will determine the quality of your snooze. What’s more, the perfect sleep system for you may not be the perfect sleep system for another - vice versa. This should come at no surprise, given how varied each person is given height, weight, age, and factoring in any medical conditions we may have. This begs the next question: is it really possible to customise every aspect of bedding to suit my specific needs? Yes! Quality sleep that will last you for several years to come is worth investing in. Here at Heveya®, we offer clients a customised mattress, customised bed frame, and beyond -  tailored to your specific demographics. Let's find out the variables that will go into making the most comfortable mattress.

1. Bed base

Let’s start by laying out the foundations: in other words, a slatted bed base. A customised bed frame will be constructed of flexible springy slats; which helps your body contour even more into your mattress, as well as aiding in air circulation and breathability between slats into your mattress. Furthermore, as mentioned before, no two persons are alike - and even our body goes through changes. Thus, the bed base should be able to adjust its level of firmness according to your body at the time. For example, if one were to gain weight in the next few years - or to go through pregnancy, they would require more support for their midsection. This would translate to tightening the lumbar zone slats for more firmness, in order to offer a more appropriate support to achieve healthy spinal alignment. Temporary changes work equally well. Suppose you are unwell and your body is feeling achy: you can offer a little relief by setting the lumbar zone slats to a more springy level. After you recover, you can simply set the slats back again to how they were before.

If you are already happy with the look of your existing bed frame but you want the added springiness of slats, you can get that too! The Heveya® Ergonomic Slatted Bed Base is specifically designed to be used either self-supporting on its own or as a drop-in to an existing bed frame.

And if you sleep with a partner, you'll each want to set your own lumbar region slats differently. Again, no problem: this is easily possible with the Heveya® Queen and King sized bed base. Each half of the bed base would have its very own set of adjustable slats so that co-sleepers can adjust their own sides according to individual preference.

Even more, a quality bed base should offer the option of being motorised. An adjustable motorised bed allows you to raise your upper and lower body all with a remote control, offering you utmost convenience and relaxation. The system is ergonomically designed to work in synergy with your customised mattress (preferably natural organic latex) to provide a truly comfortable sleeping system.

2. Custom mattress size

Your mattress size should also be customisable, yet sadly, so few manufacturers allow this. At Heveya®, a custom latex mattress can be made to any dimensions you wish! Why is it important to be able to customise your mattress size? If one happens to have a previous custom size bed frame, then you will have to purchase a custom mattress to fit - so there is no need to buy a whole new bed set when you can simply custom make a mattress to match. This proved to be the case for many expatriates that move internationally with their own bed frame.

Another reason one may opt to customise is to fit a tall stature - thus the necessity to get a custom longer length mattress so that one can sleep comfortably and securely. The key here is this: if you do not have ample 'free space', you will not have a good quality of sleep. A customised mattress size can go a long way to improving your night-time sleep and therefore your daytime well-being.

3. Firmness levels which can be customised beyond the standard

The most comfortable mattress should come in two to three different levels of firmness (e.g. soft, medium, and firm). However, a truly customisable sleep system should offer additional ways of customising firmness level above and beyond that.

If you co-sleep, you may have very different ideas of how soft or firm the mattress should be compared to fellow co-sleeper. This individual preference is very important and goes beyond short-term comfort: the wrong level of firmness for your body height and weight can actually lead to improper spinal alignment. This will undoubtedly cause poor sleep quality for years to come, and aches and pains upon waking. Remember, each co-sleeper is their own individual with their own preferences, and shouldn't have to compromise to ensure each gets their own level of firmness on each side of the mattress.

At Heveya®, split-density mattresses are a complimentary option for co-sleepers that require different firmness levels. For example: if our king sized mattress would be purchased with a request for half medium, half firm; it would consist of two separate and single mattress cores enclosed in one king sized mattress cover.

4. Multiple-layer latex mattresses

In addition to single-layer latex mattresses, there are also some latex manufacturers who make mattresses with two layers or more. At Heveya®, we have three variations: single-layer, double-layer, and triple-layer. A double-layer mattress offers a firm base layer for support coupled with a softer, less dense upper layer for comfort and pressure relief. A third soft layer can be added for that hotel-like, comfortable mattress.

The density of each layer comes in a choice of three specially-calibrated configurations (a combination of soft, medium, and firm). The subtlety added by each extra layer is a great option that is worth experiencing for yourself. This can be especially true if you feel you fit somewhere between firmness levels: for example, a Soft Heveya® double-layer mattress is too soft, yet a Medium Heveya® two-layer mattress is too firm - thus, the comfiest bed solution for you may be the Medium Heveya® triple-layer mattress (a medium firmness mattress + an added soft layer).

5. Pillows

For the finishing touches - the right pillow choice for you will complete your total supportive and comfortable experience. A pillow suited to your height and weight should support you in such a way that when you lie down on the bed, your spine from head to toe is as close to a straight line as possible. Furthermore, the pillow should be tailored to your preferred sleeping style. For example, if you have broad shoulders and are a side sleeper - it's best to look for a pillow that is high enough to fill in the space from the height created from sleeping on your side; at the same time. Another example is if you happen to be petite, it’s best to look for a pillow with a soft firmness level; as if you were to opt for too firm of a pillow, you would not have enough weight to contour naturally - this translated to an elevated head, neck, and shoulders (not straight line spinal alignment). At Heveya®, we offer six types of natural organic latex pillows - specifically tailored to various sleeping styles and densities.

It is clear that the most customisable sleep system possible is a natural organic latex bedding system, offering many types of combinations above and beyond those available at mainstream mattress stores. You can find all the options we talked about at the Heveya® showroom.

At Heveya®, you can select an adjustable slatted customised bed frame and adjust its slats just for you. You can pick your own customised mattress size of any dimension. And the options for the levels of mattress firmness go beyond the ordinary pre-set levels -  which entails the option for a dual-density mattress catered to co-sleepers with different preferences. What’s more, one has the ability to decide between a single-layer, double-layer, or triple-layer mattress. Coupled with the finishing touches of a pillow catered to your preferred sleeping style, height, and weight.

Our in-house sleep experts offer all clients to this bespoke level of customisation and service here at Heveya®. Imagine how good it would feel to sleep on a sleep system configured exactly for your body. If you could put together your own bed from the ground up, which combination would you choose to achieve the most comfortable mattress?
